Haryana Cabinet Increases Gratuity for State Employees by 25% to ₹25 Lakh Effective 2025

Starting January 1, 2025, the Haryana government will increase gratuity for state employees from ₹20 lakh to ₹25 lakh. Additionally, the cabinet has approved a 10% annual hike in External Development Charges rates.

The Haryana government has announced a 25% increase in the maximum limit of Death-cum-Retirement Gratuity for state employees. This enhancement, raising the gratuity from ₹20 lakh to ₹25 lakh, will take effect from January 1, 2025. During a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, the state cabinet approved the proposal.

What’s New? As per an official statement, the Cabinet has approved a 25% increase in the maximum limit of Death-cum-Retirement Gratuity for Judicial officers of the state government.

The statement read, “These decisions are designed to provide enhanced financial security for state government employees, their families, and Judicial officers.”

Indexation Policy In another decision, the Cabinet approved revising the Indexation Policy for calculating External Development Charges (EDC).

The Indexation Policy was based on EDC rates from 2015 and had not been increased for the past eight years until now.

“Previously, EDC rates were increased by 10% annually. As a result, the Cabinet has approved the proposal to increase EDC rates by 10% every year moving forward. A consultant will be engaged to determine future base EDC rates,” the statement said.

Aadhaar Authentication Approved The cabinet has also approved mandatory Aadhaar authentication for HPSC exams.

Aadhaar authentication will now be required for candidates appearing for Group A and B posts in the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) exams. This measure aims to ensure the integrity of the recruitment process and prevent fraudulent applications,” the statement said.

For Farmers… While speaking to reporters in the evening after the cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Saini highlighted the heavy rains that have affected many parts of Haryana over the past two days. He mentioned that the Deputy Commissioners of districts with potential crop damage due to recent rain and hailstorms have been instructed to submit a report.

Farmers can report their losses on the e-reimbursement portal themselves, Saini said.

“Currently, reports of damage due to rain and hailstorm have been received from Assembly constituencies of Tosham, Bawani Khera, Loharu, Fatehabad block, Ratia town, Bhattu Kalan, Narnaund, Hansi, Guhla, Kalayat, Kaithal, Siwan, as well as areas in Mahendragarh, Kanina Assembly, Hathin block, and Bawal block,” he added.
